As of March 2016, all students read, review and sign a new agreement, called the Empowered Media Users Agreement, which replaced the previous "Cybersafety Agreement".

This document is writtin in student-accessible language, and can be used as a starting place for conversations with students abuot digital behaviours.

The Skill Tree is a new idea which intends to provide a conceptual framework to help students self-navigate through the vast array of digital skills they would benefit from developing.

Six main categories of skills have been grouped together, in what are called "Branches".  Each branch contains six skills, that are themselves broken down so that each student can identify the skill they want to develop, and work toward developing it.

To demonstrate their competency in each skill, the student must teach it to three others, and have their teacher sign off on it.

When they have demonstrated competency in all six skills in a branch, they are awarded a certificate (or "badge") of achievement.

Points and other awards can be offered to incentivise both competitive and collaborative learning.

Below is a prezi's to introduce the Skill Tree for Students and one for Staff

The Empowered Media Users (EMU) initiative is a re-orientation around our values, goals and intentions with respect to student's continuing use of digital technology.

This shift in philosophy is explored in the prezi below, and can be used as a resource for students, teachers and Whanau

An EMU calendar and resource bank document has been created as a space to place and keep resources we use to support our students.  Teachers can add or edit resources freely, ensuring it remains up-to-date.

This provides a sustainable, evolving bank of resources, with consideration of when in the annual calendar these resources can best be applied.
